Hello, World! My name is Tristan and I’m thrilled to be a part of the DemTech team as the latest project assistant.

My journey working at the intersection of technology, politics, and policy began several years ago. At the start of my career, I worked in strategic communications, helping U.S. political candidates and advocacy organizations use digital campaigns to engage and mobilize voters across the country. That work helped me develop an intimate familiarity with the technologies, platforms, and digital tools that shape politics and society today.

Building on this foundation, I recently completed a master’s degree at Georgetown’s School of Foreign Service, delving deeper into issues around technology and its impact on national security, human rights, and democracy at the international level. I interrogated these topics further in internships outside the classroom as well. I conducted research on emerging technologies at the Australian Strategic Policy Institute and contributed to public diplomacy and digital capacity building efforts in the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor at the U.S. Department of State.

This experience is ultimately what brought me to DemTech. I’m excited to have the chance to contribute to the team’s work on emerging technologies and continue working on civic engagement and inclusion initiatives around the world.

Onwards and upwards!
