Hello, World!
My name is Nahian Reza Sabriet, and I am joining NDI’s Democracy and Technology team as a Temporary Project Assistant (TPA).
My interest in the non-profit sector began through my grandmother’s grassroots work in Bangladesh. Together with her, I helped introduce marginalized groups, like methors (sweepers to digital learning via social media campaigns in our local community. As a curious kid, I was excited to see how technology drove civic inclusion and strengthened local governance in my district.
I hold a bachelor’s and master’s in International Relations from the University of Dhaka in Bangladesh and I am currently a graduate student at Syracuse University in New York focusing on science and technology policies. My interest in this field began during my undergrad years when I saw how tech platforms were used to silence voices and spread disinformation. I am also a huge sci-fi fan, which fuels my passion for technology and cybersecurity research.
In my career, I enjoyed working in both the public and private sectors simultaneously and discovering the bridge between ideas and real-world impact. I started as a Data Analyst at the Center for Genocide Studies in Bangladesh, focusing on data mapping, analysis, and visualization of tech-based violence. Later, I joined the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS), the country’s leading state-owned security think tank under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where my research centered on information politics and critical infrastructure protection. Along the way, I have collaborated on projects with international organizations like United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Konrad Adenauer Stiftung - Singapore (KAS - Singapore), and Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung - Germany (FES - Germany).
And now I am at NDI, and I look forward to creating more open spaces for citizen participation and building stronger digital ecosystems across the world!
