Cherry Blossoms

Happy Monday, readers! Spring is finally here! If you’re in Washington, DC this week, be sure to check out the beautiful cherry blossoms! 3,000 cherry blossom trees were planted in 1912 from Mayor Yukio Ozaki of Tokyo to honor the lasting friendship between the United States and Japan, and they are still blooming today! One of the best spots to view the cherry blossoms in full bloom is around the Tidal Basin. There is also an entire festival dedicated to the cherry blossoms and you can find the details of the events here.

For those of you stuck on the west coast and unable to make it to DC in time for the cherry blossoms, we have exciting news for you too! This week, Silicon Valley is hosting its annual RightsCon Summit. From March 30th to April 1st,  business leaders, visionaries, technologists and activists will be discussing the issues of human rights and technology. Some of the most pressing issues that will be discussed at RightsCon are freedom of expression, countering violent extremism, network discrimination, digital inclusion, and internet governance. Stay tuned next week for our favorite highlights from the Summit!
