Happy Tuesday, readers! Another week has passed and it’s time for your Weekly Roundup! One of the world’s most pressing issues today is the refugee crisis. According to BBC News, “More than a million migrants and refugees crossed into Europe in 2015, sparking a crisis as countries struggled to cope with the influx, and creating division in the EU over how best to deal with resettling people.” Yesterday, the BBC hosted an event called World On The Move, an entire day of programming focused on the refugee crisis.  Actress Angelina Jolie delivered the keynote address on the shortcomings of the international humanitarian system.

Technology has played a vital role in easing the refugee crisis by providing tools to increase awareness, mapping migrations, and providing opportunities for refugees to reconnect with their lost loved ones. One of the most recent mobile applications for this crisis is the Refugee Aid App, a location based mobile application that helps refugees connect with each other, and find information and resources provided by many NGOs. As technology continues to develop and advance, it is playing a key role in strengthening the humanitarian refugee system.
